We’re so excited to launch Tools and Techniques, our brand new training program! Our very first session takes place on February 6th and we hope you’ll join us for free, hands-on construction training hosted by our staff and local professionals.
During Intro Carpentry, our first session, we’ll cover all of the carpentry and construction basics you need to be safe and successful on the job site. After a brief introduction of Habitat and our Slaterville Road project, Simon and Chuck will delve into construction safety basics, and how to use key carpentry tools, from a measuring tape to a circular saw. As you learn, you’ll put your new skills to good use helping us build a set of stackable saw horses!
Register today to join us – space is limited, ages 18 and up are welcome. And, stay tuned, we have a winter and spring full of regularly scheduled training opportunities covering a range of topics and skill levels. We’re looking forward to helping new volunteers gain confidence, to showing more seasoned DIY-ers and volunteers how they can hone and expand their skill set, and to empowering skilled builders to teach and support other volunteers.
Special thanks to CFCU Community Credit Union and the United Way of Tompkins County Community Care Fund for their financial support. Because of these generous community partners, all Tools and Techniques trainings are open to all, and completely free of charge.
