Ladies, let’s build! Habitat for Humanity’s next set of *free* Women Build construction trainings start February 22nd 2017!
Join Habitat for Humanity at Lowes in Ithaca on 6:00 PM on the following Wednesdays to learn everything from power tool basics to plumbing:
February 22nd: Power Tool Basics and Construction Safety
March 8th: Sheetrock repair/mudding
March 22nd: Basic electricity
April 5th: Tiling/Grout
April 19th: Topic of participants choice or plumbing
May 3rd: Topic of participants choice or window installation/repair
We’re taking your requests for our April 19th and May 3rd trainings – let us know what you’d like to learn and we’ll help tackle your construction, home repair and tool challenge!
Habitat’s Women Build program welcomes all females to learn and practice construction skills in a welcoming, friendly, positive environment. Our training sessions are hands-on and last approximately one hour, enough time to test the tools and ask lots of questions without taking up your entire evening. Girls ages 14 and up are also welcome to join in! We hope participants will put their skills to good use by volunteering on a Habitat job site, making a difference by helping us construct decent, affordable homes right here in our community.
Also, our Women Build Committee will be gathering immediately before each training session, at 5:00 PM, to discuss Women Build event planning, construction activities, fundraising and more. If you’d like to get involved beyond the construction site, join us! We’re always welcoming new committee members and you can commit to as much or as little involvement as you like.
