We’d love to have you volunteer with us!

If you’re interested in volunteering, please subscribe to our email newsletter to stay updated on all available opportunities. We also encourage you to follow us on Facebook for all the latest news! We use the app Helper Helper for shift sign-up and volunteer hours tracking – scroll down to see our available shifts!

You’ll need to complete the volunteer profile and sign a liability waiver in order to sign up for your first shift. Please note that volunteers on our active construction sites must be at least 16 years of age.

If you have questions, please contact volunteer@tchabitat.com or call/text 607-844-3529.

Here are some pro tips to make the most of the work day:

1) We welcome volunteers of all skill levels, no experience necessary!
2) Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Layer appropriately for the weather and be prepared for either indoor or outdoor work.
3) Bring a water bottle (and pack a lunch if you plan to stay the whole day).

Are you a group looking to volunteer?

All volunteer opportunities are listed in Helper Helper and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are part of a group and you’d like to volunteer together, group members may sign up there for any available spots. Please note that we are not able to accommodate large groups of volunteers on our construction sites at one time. It’s important that we are able to keep everyone meaningfully engaged, properly supervised, and safe! If you are unable to find a suitable work date for your small group in Helper Helper, feel free to contact us directly at volunteer@tchabitat.com or 607-844-3529, and we can try to schedule you a custom shift. The maximum number of volunteers per shift is 10 people. If you are looking for an opportunity for a larger group, we encourage you to contact the United Way of Tompkins County. Is your large group affiliated with Cornell or Ithaca College? Contact Cornell’s Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, or Ithaca College’s Center for Civic Engagement for help finding volunteer opportunities.
